Peace of mind for you and your tortoise: Based in the Hertfordshire countryside near Redbourn, Tortoise BnB is run by me, Anne. When I'm not looking after tortoises, I'm growing weeds, plants and flowers - known as Speedy Weeds - that are sent by post for tortoises throughout the UK.
The health and welfare of every tortoise is at the heart of Tortoise BnB. If a tortoise needs veterinary care during their stay, they will be see by a specialist tortoise vet as soon as possible.
If you'd like your tortoise to have a health check, nail and beak trim or worm count during their stay, this can be arranged with our visiting veterinary nurse.
In Summer: Your tortoise can enjoy time in the organic wild flower garden, in an escape proof run, or stay indoors under heat and UV lights. For safety all tortoises are brought inside at night to sleep in spacious, individual tortoise tables.
In Winter: Non-hibernating tortoises stay warm indoors in spacious individual tables with appropriate heat and UV lamps.
Hibernation: We are now fully booked for tortoise hibernation spaces here for new clients for winter 2023/24. However, we offer a video call tutorial session that takes you through the whole process of wind down, safe hibernation and wake up so you can manage your tortoise's hibernation at home. Also included are information sheets and timelines for your tortoise and email support throughout the process. See the hibernation page for more details.

Speedy Weeds:
The Speedy Weeds loyalty scheme has now stopped for the winter due to harsh weather and continued issues withy the postal service in some areas.
A limited number of 'Buy it now' packs of weeds may be available via the website early in 2024 if it's a mild winter.
Workshops:
We are offering individual video workshops on all aspects of tortoise care.
Two options available : a)Tortoise set up and general husbandry. b) Happy home hibernation using fridge method.
The cost is £50 and includes: a) A questionnaire to fill in beforehand. b) A 45 minute video call. c) A follow up email to cover all points d) Ongoing email support.
